Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I burn palm oil candles instead of paraffin or wax candles?
Well, palm oil candles are made from palm oil which is has been used as cooking oil in many parts of the world for thousands of years. Many people do not realize that wax candles are petroleum oil based products. Of course, this is not the only reason so please read the Advantages of Palm Oil candles section of the website.

What is the difference between the type of flame that palm oil gives off and the type of flame that wax candles gives off?
Palm Oil candles have the highest concentration of Stearic Acid in any candle available today, that is why they are also known as STEARIN candles. Stearic Acid is key in giving off the brightest and most desirable type of White light, many inferior candles actually have a dim yellow light.

Do they really have a longer burning time than wax candles?
Yes, because they actually have a higher molecular density than wax candles which causes them to burn longer. Many of our customers are surprised at how long these candles last.

What’s the difference between Palm Oil & Paraffin?
Paraffin is extracted from black crude oil using chemicals like hexane and refined to become a solid waxy substance otherwise known as paraffin wax. There are many grades of paraffin with the food grade paraffin being the most refined and producing the least amount of smoke. Many of the lower grade paraffin waxes emit a lot of carcinogens into the air and it is full of smoke and soot. It is important to note that paraffin wax still comes from petroleum oil.

What is the difference between palm oil & soy?
Palm Wax is manufactured by simply pressing the palm kernels of their oils and then distilled. Palm Wax is a Renewable natural product. Soy, like paraffin is also a natural renewable product like palm, but it does not have the same properties as palm wax. Soy is softer and does not contain the high stearic acid content as palm thus it does not have as the same bright white flame as palm wax. Many soy wax manufacturers often combine palm wax and soy wax together to give soy candles some of palm wax's superior qualities.
